Research Associate (Phenotyping) - AeroFarms AgX Ltd. (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Summary:

The Research Associate will join an experienced team of Scientists and Growers on the Research & Development team, working closely with multiple departments to ensure success of long-range goals and strategies. Reporting to the Phenotyping Lab Manager, Research Associate is responsible for assisting with testing, evaluating, and data collection of plants within controlled growing environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with R&D team and other stakeholders to achieve goals on multiple projects
• Assist with experiments to improve plant growing systems
• Measure plant growth and development by eye and with scientific instrumentation
• Methodically collect plant material for lab analysis, following protocols precisely
• Manage and maintain sensors, lab equipment and plant growing systems (basic plumbing, growth media, lighting, etc.)
• Record and track EC, pH, temperature, and humidity; correct when out of range
• Weigh and mix fertilizers to create nutrient solutions
• Monitor inventory of horticulture supplies.
• Use grow room software as needed to verify growing conditions
• Collect nutrient solution and plant tissue samples for analysis as needed
• Comply with safety rules
• Contribute to a positive work environment

Qualifications and Requirements:

• BSc. in Agriculture, Horticulture or related field.
• Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in Horticulture, Agriculture, or Controlled Environment Agriculture (student research counts as experience)
• Previous experience in Food or Agriculture Technology is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly effective interpersonal skills
• Teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to work
• Able to multitask and prioritize the workload
• A flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Advanced skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient with environmental monitoring and controls is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time in person position with normal work hours and workdays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
