Job Description
- Contribute significantly in designing and implementation of research methods and protocols; design safety procedures; adopt new processes,techniques, or instrumentation relative to research procedures.
- Oversee general laboratory work relevant to assigned research project(s) and equipment maintenance; quality control analysis of reagents.
- Collect, prepare and analyze research data; conduct search-relevant scientific literature as needed; keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data; maintain computer database of research data; gather and disseminate data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
- Supervise students and other personnel in the laboratory tocoordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate intraining of fellows, research assistance, students, and visiting research personnel as needed.
- Produce scientific progress reports and contribute to preparing research and grants/funding applications.
- Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory.
- Contribute to the publications outputs of QU through high impact publications. Perform other research tasks and duties that may be occasionally requested to meet the requirements of the role and the strategic goalsof the research center.
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree from a reputable University in Agricultural Science (Pomology), in the field of date palm physiology and production management.
- English is required and Arabic is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience at an Agricultural Experiment Station or Research Centers.
- Experience in-vitro date palm micro-propagation and tissue culture is recommended.
- Peer-reviewed publications, a demonstrated capacity to establish collaboration with stakeholders, government agencies and international partners.
- The candidate should demonstrate research ability and knowledge in the field of agricultural research with strong technical and communication skills.
- A clear research and technical vision related to the area of research.
- Demonstration of establishment of research programs and student supervision at under and graduate levels.
