The Petroleum Engineering Program of Texas A&M University at Qatar invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the research assistant professor level with preference to those having expertise in the areas of formation damage. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and a demonstrated research capability that will enable the candidate to develop an independent research program and publish in leading scholarly journals. Faculty at Texas A&M University Qatar Campus (TAMUQ) are of two types: instructional track and research track. This position is a research-track position at the assistant level. The official title for this position is Research Assistant Professor, with the working title of Engineering Assistant Professor. Research-track faculty at TAMUQ are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop an independent research program, as well as to engage through scholarship within the university and their discipline. This non-tenure track position assumes a 9-month academic appointment and the anticipated start date for this position will be Fall 2023. The hired faculty member is eligible to receive a startup package that covers the summer salary for three years. Following this period, faculty members at Texas A&M at Qatar have a 9-month appointment and may cover the salary of the remaining months from externally funded grants and/or teaching and services.
The Petroleum Engineering Program currently has eight faculty members that have demonstrated their strong commitment to teaching, research, and service. The program benefits from state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation in support of its key educational and research missions. The Petroleum Engineering faculty have established strong educational and research programs on a foundation of core engineering disciplines. There is significant support in Qatar for research through funds from Qatar National Research Fund and the Industry.
The PETE Program is fully committed to a culturally and academically diverse faculty. This position is in Qatar, a Gulf State in the Middle East, and the successful candidate must relocate to Doha, the capital of Qatar. Doha is a vibrant multicultural city that has excellent schools. Texas A&M University at Qatar is a partnership with Qatar Foundation. Established in 2003, Texas A&M University at Qatar offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering and a Master Program in Chemical Engineering.
