The School of Business is inviting applications for a Research Assistant (RA) to start work as soon as possible for a period of six months, with potential to be renewed for a further six months, pending MOE approval. The RA will become part of the research team to work for a recently awarded project in the thematic areas of Food Security and Agri-food Supply Chain. The project will examine the global drivers of change and assess their impact on the United Arab Emirates food systems including the society and the dietary habits of the consumers and will deliver tools for evidence-based decision making and policy planning. The project addresses the UAE National Food Strategy 2051 Vision to become a \xe2\x80\x9cworld leading hub in innovation-driven food security\xe2\x80\x9d, with the introduction of a set of new innovative tools and it is aligned with the country\xe2\x80\x99s mission to \xe2\x80\x9censure food security under all circumstances through enabling technology- based production and supply of food, promoting international trade partnerships, and enforcing policies and regulations to enhance nutritional intake and reduce food loss and waste\xe2\x80\x9d. Requirements & Responsibilities
Formal requirements Applicants should hold a recognized Master\'s degree in a business-related discipline, preferably, from Master of Science/Master of Business specialized in Supply Chain Management or related to the thematic areas mentioned above. Candidates should have a strong analytical background and demonstrate an adequate level of English language proficiency. As criteria for the assessment of your qualifications, emphasis will also be laid on previous publications (if any), demonstrated analytical and qualitative skills, and the relevant work experience. Generally, we are looking for a candidate with:

• Master Degree in Supply Chain Management, or equivalent, with particular emphasis on food supply chains, agribusiness, food and nutrition security, sustainable agriculture etc.
• Strong EWS system design skills
• Experience in Open AI, ML platforms and modeling techniques
• Strong analytical skills and experience with quantitative research methods,
• Excellent writing and planning skills
• Experience in conducting empirical research and data collection.

Responsibilities The preferred candidate for this post will be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities :

• Strong conceptual and analytical quantitative methods skills and a commitment to research excellence.
• A proven academic and publication track record.
• Applicants should be completely fluent in English. Ability to write high-standard text in English.
• A good knowledge of statistical methods (e.g. multivariate analysis based on experimental research) and software packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS).
• Knowledge in Early Warning System (EWS) design, development of ICT solutions for Agrifood supply chain management, food security and policy decision making support is required.
• Working in a collegial and cooperative manner with the supervisors and other co-workers.

Terms of employment

• The successful candidate will receive a remuneration package of AED5,000 per month
