Danat Al Emarat, our Women\'s and Children\'s Hospital in Abu Dhabi, is actively recruiting for a Registered Nurse

Job Summary
  • Responsible in the provision of quality nursing care by maintaining accurate records in the EMR and in the maintenance of professional standards through continuing education and development.
  • Responsible for the orientation and induction training of new, junior Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses.
  • Accountable for ensuring all services rendered are consistent with their education and assessed competence, meet legislative requirements and are supported by appropriate standards.
  • Understands, supports and promotes the mission, vision and values of organization.
  • Provides age appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by DoH.
Roles and Responsibilities
People Resource Management.
  • Participate in orientation of newly employed nurses to the department

Budgetary Management
  • To advise the Charge Nurse / Nurse Manager of malfunctioning equipment.
  • To liaise with the Charge Nurse / Nurse Manager in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable item requirements.
  • To ensure appropriate utilization of resources effectively and efficiently

Quality Improvement
  • To participate and encourage staff participation in Quality Improvement programs.
  • To provide a positive patient experience through the delivery of high quality customer service.
  • To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Observe and maintain confidentiality of information and data relating to patients, staff, service and the organization.
Assessment
  • To perform and document patient assessment which incorporates all available data.
  • To use nursing knowledge and Clinical expertise in performing physical examination and patient assessment.
  • To use age appropriate assessment tools and techniques
  • To identify from assessment, actual and potential problems in collaboration with patient and family.
  • To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.
  • Uses evidence based practice in the provision of care.
  • Planning
  • To plan, document and discuss nursing care plan with the patient and family using the nursing process and priorities of nursing care.
  • To continually update the nursing care plan as patient status demands.
  • To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.
  • Involves the parents in the planning and education of care processes
  • To commence discharge planning as soon as it is feasible in collaboration with the patient, family and significant others.
  • Implementation
  • To use the nursing process to set priorities in the delivery of care.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing care delivered by Practical Nurses.
  • Document in the EMR as required.
  • Coordinate care delivered by the multidisciplinary team.
  • Evaluation
  • To evaluate any and all changes in patient condition.
  • Allows parents to be part of the care evaluation as appropriate.
  • To revise the plan of care as necessary on the basis of evaluation.
  • To communicate evaluation and subsequent plan to patient/family / significant others and health team.
Personal and Professional
  • To maintain professional knowledge, skills and accept responsibility for own education and career development.
  • Set goals and standards for self-improvement.
  • Performs any other duties as directed by the Nurse Manager.
  • To possess clear understanding and commitment to DAE\'s philosophy. Accepts and recognizes the legal limitations and ethical parameters of the role.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting work demands and able to work as a team.
  • Demonstrate understanding of cultural differences.
  • Is able to problem solve and make decisions in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
General
  • The registered nurse will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development needs as appropriate within scope of service.
  • The registered nurse will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the Health and Safety regulation of the hospital.
  • Upholds the organizations customer service standards at all time.
  • To implement and demonstrate all infection control measures and practice.
  • Possesses effective oral, written and IT communication skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic nursing skills and techniques.
  • Meets work demands and is able to follow directions accurately.
  • To perform any other duty as required by the line manager that commensurate with the post
Skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer Literate.
