Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
Performs initial assessment of patients, includes baseline observations and CTG if required.
Ability to identify and promptly report obstetric emergencies to the doctor.
Performs nursing procedures with attention to accuracy in patient safety and comfort.
Ensures strict aseptic techniques are followed while performing various gynecological and obstetrical procedures.
Responsible for maintaining clean unit as per infection control and waste management policy of the hospital.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in the nursing care of patients undergoing gynecological and obstetrical procedures.
Provides appropriate health teaching to patient and family about further management and care.
Prepares, administers and documents medication as per hospital policy, if given to the patient.
Perform the Appropriateness review of medications before preparing and administering medications as required.
Administrative activities:
Ensures passport copy, visa copy and marriage certificate of both parents is attached in the patient\'s file where applicable.
Participates in approved HAAD/JCIA/Organization mother and child programs
Participates in/initiates quality Improvements within the Department to continuously improve education or services
Maintains and updates all relevant patient documentations/medical records as per hospital policy and procedures.
Participates in Quality improvement projects and KPI\'s.
Maintains confidentiality of patient\'s records.
Coordinates with the front office executives of the designated area for smooth functioning and optimum patient care.
Follows reporting mechanisms/chain of command in the Nursing Department, ensuring all patient care issues are accurately reported in a timely manner.
Takes responsibility for professional clinical practice and is actively involved in updating and continuing education.
Responsible for checking the crash cart as per Hospital Policy.
Responsible for appropriate storage and maintenance of medication inventories which includes high alert medications and narcotics as per hospital policy.
Responsible for appropriate storage and maintenance of Hazmat inventory items through the use of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) as per hospital policy.
Responsible for collecting and presenting statistics/KPI\'s where required.
Ensures preventative and ongoing maintenance of equipment are carried out, reporting all failures or deficiencies to the appropriate department head.
Demonstrates an economical approach to the utilization of equipment and supplies while assisting the Charge Nurse to maintain an appropriate ward stock.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other necessary precautions as per hospital policy.
Takes responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Charge Nurse as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.
Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures.
Responsible for stock control of linen in the outpatient department.
Responsible for replenishing of supplies for the ambulance as per requirement on ambulance checklists, before and after liaising with staff who have transferred patients.
Provides continuous education of patients, nurses and other service providers working in the outpatient setting.
Fosters and facilitates peer teaching activities in a clinical setting.
Demonstrates ability to perform under pressure.
Ensures proper and meticulous documentation/record keeping.
