  • Perform her duties as per NMC guiding principles and model of care, DHA regulation and other regulatory authorities, the JCI accreditation body and Benner\xe2\x80\x99s model of competence.
  • Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patients\xe2\x80\x99 and their family\xe2\x80\x99s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Provide culturally appropriate patient focused nursing care.
  • Applies the international patient safety goals throughout the patients\xe2\x80\x99 journey and care process.
  • Respects patients and applies patient family rights throughout the patients\xe2\x80\x99 care, with empathy and emotional stability.
  • Educates and informs patient on the care process and other relevant information within her scope of practice.
  • Provides comprehensive care to the assigned patient and family.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates care given to assigned patients in an effective and organized manner.
  • Follows policy and delivers designated nursing interventions to assigned patients.
  • Performs admission, discharge, and transfer of the patient.

  • Execute basic bedside nursing care and maintain hygienic protocols of the unit.
  • Participate in doctor\xe2\x80\x99s rounds and assist in giving relevant information as per nursing observations.
  • Demonstrate competence in cardiopulmonary resuscitation technique.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of monitoring fetal heart rate and uterine contractions by Cardiotocography (CTG) machine.
  • Continuously monitors the progress of labor, performs vaginal examination, and identifies and escalates early warning signs timely to the treating physician.
  • Assists the doctor in conducting delivery, performs delivery, if required.
  • Actively promotes breastfeeding and assists mothers in reaching their goals for breastfeeding.
  • Prepares the woman for labor, birth and parenting.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the physiology of labor.
  • Identifies high risk pregnancies and notify doctors.
  • Encourages participation of family members in the birth to support the mother and enhance both mother/baby bonding and family relationships.
  • Demonstrates competency in the skills needed to support the woman during childbirth.
    Supervises and assists mothers in labor, monitoring the condition of the fetus and using knowledge of drugs and pain management.
  • Provides safe and effective intra-partum care.
  • Performs Point of Care Testing effectively.
  • Assists the neonatologist in immediate resuscitation of baby after delivery, if required.
  • Complies strictly with neonatal identification protocol as per the hospital policy.
  • Takes responsibility for post-partum nursing care of the patient.
  • Administers intravenous fluids and medications including high alert medications which include narcotic drugs and concentrated electrolytes safely and accurately as prescribed.
  • Monitors patients receiving labor analgesia keenly.
  • Prepares the assigned patients for emergency / elective LSCS, when required / scheduled.
  • Administers blood and blood products and monitors patients for signs and symptoms related to transfusion reactions.
  • Provides anticipated and timely care to the patients assigned in the unit.
  • Demonstrates ability in analyzing sudden, adverse developments in patients and institute emergency measures for providing appropriate care as when required.
  • Adheres to correct and precise nursing documentation.
  • Attends and participates in Nursing rounds and ward meetings.
  • Follows the proper channel of communication in the Nursing Department ensuring patient care issues are appropriately reported.
  • Facilitates information exchange of patient related conditions and treatments at the end of shift.
  • Participates in the rehabilitation and discharge planning of patient and family.
  • Maintains and updates all relevant patient documentation and medical records as per hospital policy and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of the information pertaining to the patient.
  • Provides education and supports patients and families including breast feeding techniques.
  • Takes up the responsibility for the ward / unit in the absence of the head nurse as assigned by the nursing authorities/ Director of Nursing.
  • Assists in maintaining the inventory of the unit.
  • Carries out routine check of working of equipment in each shift.
  • Demonstrates adherence to infection control policies.
  • Maintains and adheres to hospital, nursing department policies and JCI accreditation protocol.
  • Facilitate and encourage patients, care givers and relatives to take an active role in care giving and where appropriate develop plans that enable patients and care givers to be independent as far as possible.
  • Works collaboratively with other professions and agencies to ensure patient needs are met especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge planning arrangements.
  • Performs other miscellaneous assigned responsibilities as identified by the Head Nurse / Supervisor.
  • Participates in scheduled continuing nursing education and staff development programs.
  • Demonstrates awareness of fire /equipment hazards and the necessary precautions to be activated as per hospital policy. Equips self to deal with the prolonged crisis of the pandemic and stays ever ready on the front lines.

  • Bachelor / Master of Science in Nursing / Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery.
  • Current licensure in country of origin with DHA license as Registered Midwife to practice in Dubai, UAE.
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in the Labor and Delivery room.
  • BLS provider, ACLS / PALS desirable not essential.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Arabic language advantageous / desirable, but not essential.
