Clinical Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms for orthodontic procedures. Sterilize, disinfect, and arrange instruments and materials. Take and pour dental impressions for study models. Take intraoral and extraoral X-rays (if licensed/certified). Assist orthodontist during chairside procedures (bonding, banding, debonding, adjustments). Place and remove orthodontic separators, bands, and archwires (if permitted by local regulations). Provide suction and retraction during procedures. Record orthodontic charting and treatment notes accurately. Instruct patients on oral hygiene with braces, retainers, or appliances. Take intraoral/extraoral photographs for records. Adjust or deliver orthodontic appliances under orthodontist's supervision. Monitor patient comfort and safety during procedures.

Administrative & Patient Care

Schedule and confirm orthodontic appointments. Manage patient records and treatment progress notes. Communicate treatment instructions clearly to patients and parents. Educate patients on appliance care, retention, and follow-up compliance. Maintain inventory of orthodontic supplies and request stock when needed. Ensure infection control protocols are followed according to clinic standards.

Additional Skills & Expectations

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment. Show patience and empathy, especially with children and anxious patients. Assist in orthodontic emergencies (loose brackets, broken wires, etc.). Support orthodontist in treatment planning by preparing study models, photos, and records.
