Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a high performing Engineering Manager with the capabilities to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams - with a key focus on execution and delivery of consultancy projects to time, cost, and quality. This role will include supporting the business needs of the operating unit as well as leading technical delivery throughout region and grow an engineering centre of excellence to meet short to medium term opportunities. This will be achieved by working in partnership with our UK Engineering Solutions team and Global Design Centres.

You will Lead a multi-discipline design and engineering input to assigned projects, including (where relevant), providing technical leadership and oversight, driving solutions to technical problems, managing input of major package suppliers and subcontractors - ensuring engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality - reporting to and supporting the Group Director for the Middle East business with a functional relationship to the D&S Group Engineering Director. Within this, you will seek opportunities to grow workshare with Global Design Centres to maximise competitiveness and economies of scale and scope.

The onus will be on this person to be a thought leader capable of promoting and sustaining the Jacobs brand, stimulating, and encouraging the next generation of leaders. Innovation is at the heart of delivery and client relationships - attracting and retaining the best engineering staff. You will also be accountable for reporting for your assigned projects, overall engineering progress, budget, programme, resourcing, client satisfaction and minimisation of rework, and lessons learnt and project execution improvements.

You will be responsible for leading communications on engineering issues, collaborating with engineering teams, Clients, 3rd Parties and Regulators either directly or via technical specialists. This includes leading engineering/design reviews and Stakeholder engagement/reviews. engineering change control in conjunction with the Project Management team - as well as supporting project services, procurement, construction, and other project functions to ensure engineering is executed cost effectively supporting the needs of the whole project. In addition, you will generate and check engineering estimates, programmes and execution strategies to ensure on time delivery, provide optimal solutions and eliminate errors.

Establishing and maintaining technical and quality standards to support quality engineering delivery, whilst provide functional support/guidance to more junior staff to develop them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole will be key. Leading safety in design and developing a positive safety culture, whilst staying up to date with current technology so that technical input to projects takes account of new developments.

Other key elements include supporting the Group Director on business development activities including developing business relationships with Clients, identifying work opportunities, and supporting/managing the delivery of proposals from an engineering perspective. Supporting the D&S Group Engineering Director in non-project-based activities e.g., writing procedures, resource planning, establishing policy, budgeting, recruitment etc, to support the drive to continuously improve and optimise the operation of the Engineering centre.

Here\'s What You\'ll Need

Qualifications & Experience
  • Professionally qualified (e.g., Chartered) Engineer.
  • Substantial relevant experience, including design management/project engineering experience in multi-discipline infrastructure project design work, and first-hand experience of infrastructure construction projects.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, both with colleagues and external bodies.
  • Proven leadership ability and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be able to manage pressure and make decisions with limited technical support in region.
  • Can show evidence of working in multi-cultural teams and environments.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice.
  • Proven ability in developing good working relationships with clients, and preparation of bids and proposals.
Desirable
  • Experience of design, assessment and construction of civil or defence nuclear safety related infrastructure, and/or maritime infrastructure.
  • Experience of producing safety case documentation.
  • Experience of BIM
