1. Role Overview

Rebar Drawing Designer

(Rebar Detailer / Rebar Draftsman)

Experienced professional responsible for creating D

etailed Reinforcement (rebar) drawings

and

Bar Bending Schedules (BBS)

based on structural and construction drawings. You will translate the structural engineer's design intent into precise fabrication and installation information for the construction site and rebar fabrication shop.

2. Main Responsibilities

Interpret structural drawings:

Study reinforced concrete structures (columns, beams, slabs, foundations, walls, etc.) and identify reinforcement details.

Prepare rebar shop drawings:

Develop accurate 2D or 3D rebar placement drawings showing bar sizes, spacing, laps, bends, and anchorage.

Generate Bar Bending Schedules (BBS):

Calculate exact bar lengths, shapes, quantities, and weights for fabrication and procurement.

Optimize designs:

Adjust bar layouts to reduce material waste and improve constructability while ensuring compliance with codes.

Coordinate with engineers and stakeholders:

Work closely with structural engineers, architects, and site teams to resolve design conflicts.

Ensure compliance:

Follow relevant international and local standards (e.g.,

BS 8666

3. Common Software Tools

AutoCAD

- for 2D rebar shop drawings

Tekla Structures / Revit / CADS RC / Allplan / SFCAD

- for 3D rebar modeling

Microsoft Excel

- for BBS calculations and summaries

4. Deliverables

Rebar shop drawings (PDF / CAD format) Bar Bending Schedules (Excel or table format) Rebar quantity take-off and summary reports Revision and as-built rebar drawings

5. Key Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in

Civil / Structural Engineering

or equivalent

Minimum 3 years of experience

in rebar detailing or structural drafting

Minimum 3 years of experience

working in large steel fabrication factories in the UAE Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete detailing principles Proficient in

AutoCAD

and

Microsoft Excel

; knowledge of Tekla Structures or Revit is an advantage Skilled in reading and interpreting structural and architectural drawings accurately High accuracy in measurement and geometry Familiar with

construction standards, fabrication tolerances, and international detailing codes (BS 8666, ACI 315, ISO 3766, etc.)

Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of meeting deadlines Strong coordination and communication skills with engineers, site teams, and other project members
