Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Design and develop new products to meet customer requirements. - Design new products as part of the complete product development cycle: From customer RFQs. (Request For Quotes) to SOP (Start of Production). - Analyze Voice of Customer (VOC) requirements and specifications. - Develop product design proposals using CAD tools, at different stages of development: Concept, Design and Development. - Apply design verification tools such as worst-case tolerance calculations and mechanical simulation, - Develop technical proposals for submission to customers, while respecting project quality, cost and deadlines. - Define DV (design validation) and PV (product validation) test plans. - Design prototype parts, CAD models and drawings. Monitor rapid prototyping and pilot production. - Actively participate in product FMEA and product design reviews. - Technical interface with internal and/or external production sites (suppliers). - Technical interface with customer. - Execution of technical product design documents (models, drawings, specifications, etc.) required to launch mass production tools. - Follow-up on product testing and validation/qualification. - Ensure production launch at manufacturing sites. - Support the PPAP submission process.

What your background should look like:

- Master's degree in mechanical engineering, with a specialization in product design. - At least one year's experience as a mechanical design engineer in the automotive or similar sector. - Ideally, knowledge of plastics, injection molding, tool design, part design. - Proficiency in CAD software : CREO preferred. - Knowledge of GD&T drawing standards, DFMEA and DVP test drawing. - Excellent written and spoken French and English.
