Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

The Industrial / Electrical Segment within the Industrial Solutions Business Unit of TE Connectivity has a full-time opportunity for the position of a Product Engineer. This will support the Identification product line portfolio.

The Product Engineer will be primarily responsible for sustaining engineering activities, many of which support TE Digital Part Management initiatives. The desired candidate will possess and apply knowledge of Product Engineering principles, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities and tasks:

Manage product environmental compliance of Identification materials and products. The candidate will possess a solid knowledge of materials and substances, and how they might be impacted by current and future legislation. Promote Sustainable material use in new product development and with existing product portfolio. Be responsible for creating and managing EBOM's. Create and manage all supporting technical documentation; including drawings, specifications, inspection plans, reports etc. Provide support for the design and development of products to meet performance specification and fitness for manufacture. Encompassing printing, material, and environmental requirements. Work on Product Optimization and Cost Improvement to reduce cost and improve product competitiveness. Represent Engineering on multi-functional project teams. Evaluate manufacturing deviation requests and make decisions on deviation acceptance. Use of TE's Engineering Change control procedures to support product lifecycle demands. Support Configuration Change Management requirements. Review, evaluate and implement material changes to product subcomponents. Engage with suppliers, customers and sales on product applications, technical queries, quality concerns. Work with TE legal and customers to obtain NDA agreements due to confidential nature of information.

Qualifications and Experience required:

University Engineering degree or equivalent in Materials science. 4+ years demonstrate experience in Design Engineering assignments. Excellent knowledge of global regulatory landscape, including RoHS, REACH, CAL PROP 65. Current knowledge of IMDS will be an advantage Experienced user of Engineering tools such as DFMEA, and lean six sigma tools. Proficient in 2D design software and Label design packages (ZWCAD/Adobe) Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong design/development and analytical skills. Ability to challenge technical solutions and processes. Able to work with multicultural engineering teams. Ideal candidate is proactive, resilient, and self-confident. Fluent in English (spoken and written), and French. Flexibility in working day and travelling. Knowledge of basic Quality standards and processes. Understanding of UL and other Regulatory Standards preferred. Experienced in using Microsoft Office.
