Job Description

1. JOB PURPOSE



1.1.

Provide patient services using medical imaging equipment, as directed by a physician; and performing other related duties as assigned.

2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES



2.1.

Calculates correct technical radiation exposure factors.

2.2.

Positions the patient, applies proper radiologic techniques using medical imaging equipment, and takes radiographs.

2.3.

Processes film and evaluate radiographs for technical quality.

2.4.

Assumes care of the physical and psychological needs of the patient during examination and procedures.

2.5.

Maintains proper radiation protection practices and quality assurance.

2.6.

Maintains radiologic equipment.

2.7.

Orders all radiologic materials and maintains inventory.

2.8.

Prepares and files reports on all procedures completed.

2.9.

Maintains daily contact with Medical Center and Radiologist charged with interpreting results.

2.10.

Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures.

2.11.

Assists physicians and nursing staff with office procedures as needed.

2.12.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

2.13.

Works according to established policies and procedures.

2.14.

Most of the radiography and MR examination will be carried out independently by the Technologist however special radiological procedures such as fluoroscopic examinations, IVP, etc. must be done under the direct supervision of the radiologist.

2.15.

Plan and organize own workload and appropriate prioritization of case load under indirect supervision.

3. EHS Responsibilities

3.2 Help in developing and establishing safety programs.

3.3 Follow established procedures and not take any shortcuts.

3.4 Assist in investigations.

3.5 Report hazards and incidents.

3.6 Provide feedback.

1. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS



1.1.

BSc in Radiography Or Graduate from an accredited DiplomaProgram (NLT 3 year syllabus).

1.2.

Graduate from an accredited Radiography program (NLT 2 yearsSyllabus) and registered with the American Registry of RadiologicalTechnologists, The Canadian Association of Medical RadiationTechnologists, UK HPC, or equivalent.

1.3.

Bachelor's Degree in Radiography

1.4.

Three years of experience as a radiographer and valid HAAD license required.

1.5.

Knowledge of radiographic procedures, principles and evaluation.

1.6.

Knowledge of medical imaging equipment and film processing.

1.7.

Knowledge of radiation physics and radiation protection.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, health care professionals and the public.
