Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiation Protection Officer to join our team. As a Radioactive Waste Technician, you will be responsible for executing radioactive waste minimization efforts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining safe operations related to the management and disposal of radioactive waste. Your expertise and knowledge in radiation protection will play a critical role in safeguarding our employees, the environment, and the surrounding community. Responsibilities:
- Execute radioactive waste minimization efforts to minimize radioactive waste generation and associated costs.
- Control hazardous substances in the Radiologically Controlled Area (RCA) for radioactive waste management to comply with the radioactive waste disposal criteria.
- Control and dispose of clearance level waste to minimize radioactive waste in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Control the transportation of radioactive waste on-site to store radioactive waste properly, ensuring compliance with predisposal management requirements.
- Conduct Radioactive Material Packaging/Control to ensure safe operations at the plant, including handling, shipping, managing, and disposing of radwaste.
- Ensure the containment of radioactive materials to avoid any dispersion in the workplace and the environment.
- Supervise activities of junior Technicians during outage periods.
- Assist operators in operating compactor machines for compacting radiation waste inside drums.

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Health Physics, Radiological Sciences) or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a Radiation Protection Officer or similar credentials is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in radiation protection, radioactive waste management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety principles, practices, and procedures.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines related to radiation protection and waste management (e.g., Nuclear Regulatory Commission, International Atomic Energy Agency).
- Proficient in using radiation detection and monitoring equipment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental protection.
- Abu Dhabi: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
