The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts. The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare
cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQ)
Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Manage
project cost control
, forecasting, and reporting
Prepare and evaluate
tender documents and contractor bids
Measure and value work done on site
Prepare
interim payment certificates
and final accounts
Manage
variations, claims, and change orders
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and project teams
Monitor material costs, labor costs, and project expenditures
Ensure compliance with contract terms (FIDIC or other forms)
Provide
risk analysis and value engineering
recommendations
Assist in dispute resolution and commercial negotiations
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in
Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (typically 3-8+ years)
Strong knowledge of
construction contracts and cost management
Proficiency in
Excel, measurement software, and cost control tools
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Knowledge of local construction standards and regulations
Experience with
FIDIC contracts
