To manage all cost-related aspects of fencing and mesh materials projects, including budgeting, procurement, cost estimation, contract administration, and financial reporting. The QS will ensure cost-effective and high-quality project delivery, from initial estimation to final account settlement.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation & Budgeting
Prepare detailed cost estimates for fencing projects including mesh, posts, gates, fixings, and installation.
Develop Bills of Quantities (BoQ) based on drawings and specifications.
Tendering & Procurement
Prepare and manage tender documents.
Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors specializing in mesh and fencing products.
Contract Management
Administer and manage subcontractor agreements and material supply contracts.
Evaluate and process variations, claims, and final accounts.
Project Monitoring
Conduct on-site measurements and valuations.
Track project costs against budgets and report on variances.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and payments.
Prepare financial reports and forecasts for management.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure all materials comply with relevant standards (BS/EN/ASTM).
Liaise with site supervisors to ensure installation meets specified quality levels.
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction, preferably with fencing/mesh material specialization.
Strong knowledge of fencing systems (chain link, welded mesh, security fencing, etc.)
Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD (optional), and QS software (e.g., CostX, Candy).
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
