Analyze project drawings and specifications to forecast project costs.
Tendering & Procurement
Prepare tender documentation and manage the tendering process.
Evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids.
Contract Management
Prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Project Financial Management
Monitor and control project costs to stay within budget.
Track variations, change orders, and cost implications.
Produce regular financial reports, including cash flow forecasts.
Valuation & Payments
Conduct on-site measurements and valuations.
Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
Certify payments to contractors and subcontractors.
Risk & Value Management
Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks.
Recommend cost-effective solutions and value engineering.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and health & safety regulations.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure quality standards are met.
Key Skills and Qualifications: Essential Skills:
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
Proficiency in MS Excel, and QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, or similar)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
Professional membership (desirable): RICS, AIQS, CIOB, etc.
2-5 years of relevant experience (varies with seniority)
