The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to construction and civil engineering projects. This includes initial estimates, cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and ensuring value for money while meeting all legal and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow projections for projects.
Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labour costs.
Manage tendering processes including preparation of bills of quantities (BOQ) and tender documentation.
Evaluate contractor quotations and negotiate to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Monitor and control project costs to ensure alignment with budgets.
Certify and process contractor payments, variations, and claims.
Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior management.
Maintain up-to-date records of project finances, contract documentation, and reports.
Conduct risk assessments and provide cost control advice during design and construction phases.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Professional certification (e.g., RICS or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and legal regulations.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office applications.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
