Job Description

Job Summary:
A Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. Their primary role is to ensure that projects are completed within budget while meeting quality and legal standards. They work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to control costs, manage contracts, and ensure value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents.
• Analyze project specifications and drawings to forecast costs.
• Advise on procurement strategies and cost-saving measures.

2. Contract Administration:

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
• Handle variations, claims, and dispute resolution.

3. Financial Control & Cost Management:

• Monitor project expenditures and cash flow.
• Conduct cost analysis, risk assessments, and value engineering.
• Prepare interim valuations, progress reports, and final accounts.

4. Procurement & Tendering:

• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Assist in selecting contractors based on cost, quality, and timelines.
• Manage procurement processes to ensure best value.

5. Project Collaboration:

• Work with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure cost efficiency.
• Attend site meetings and provide cost-related advice.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure financial transparency.

6. Risk Management & Compliance:

• Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records for audits and dispute resolution.
