Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation & Analysis:
Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and subcontractors for new and ongoing projects.
Budget Management:
Monitor and manage budgets throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all costs remain within financial limits and identify cost-saving opportunities where applicable.
Tendering & Contract Negotiation:
Assist in the preparation of tender documents, evaluate bids, and provide recommendations. Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure best-value procurement.
Cost Control & Reporting:
Regularly monitor and track project costs and deliver comprehensive reports on financial status. Provide forecasts and adjustments to budgets as necessary.
Contract Administration:
Administer contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions, project scope, and timelines.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks to the project's financials and work with the project team to mitigate these risks effectively. Preparation of Risk assessment and Method of statement.
Procurement & Cost Control:
Oversee the procurement of materials and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchases.
Site Inspections:
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess quality of work, and ensure that the work completed aligns with the projected costs.
Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to provide cost advice, facilitate project delivery, and address any issues that arise.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
At least
1.5 to 2 years of experience
as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction or civil engineering industry.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of construction processes, cost management, and relevant contract laws.
Attention to Detail:
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and opportunities for cost optimization.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and present to clients and stakeholders.
Organizational Skills:
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Team Player:
A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
