The Quality Controller is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance for all Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) inventory within the warehouse and distribution chain. This role focuses on inspecting materials, monitoring storage conditions, and ensuring that all incoming/outgoing product is safe, accurate, and meets company specifications and customer expectations.
Job Responsibilities
Receiving and Inbound Quality
- Perform thorough checks on raw materials, packaging, and finished products as they arrive. This includes verifying quantity, quality, packaging integrity (no damage), and compliance with specifications.
- For temperature-sensitive FMCG (like food or certain health/beauty products), they must check and record that goods arrived within the required temperature range.
- Accurately record inspection data. Promptly escalate and quarantine any rejected materials or non-conformities, initiating a Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process.
Storage and Inventory Management
- : Regularly inspect storage areas to ensure optimal conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation) are maintained, particularly for perishable items.
- : Conduct routine inspections to ensure the warehouse environment, equipment, and staff practices adhere to Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).
- : Monitor inventory systems to ensure strict adherence to FEFO (First-Expired-First-Out) or FIFO (First-In-First-Out) to minimize waste and prevent the dispatch of expired or near-expiry stock.
- Assist in monitoring and coordinating pest control programs to maintain a contamination-free environment.
Order Fulfilment and Outbound Quality
- : Perform spot checks or full audits on packed orders to verify picking accuracy (right product, right quantity) and packaging quality (securely packed to prevent damage in transit).
- : Inspect the loading process and vehicles to ensure the product is handled and transported under appropriate conditions, especially for fragile or chilled goods.
- : Ensure that only compliant, quality-assured product is released for shipment.
System and Compliance
- : Ensure all warehouse and quality activities comply with relevant local and international regulations (e.g., food safety standards like HACCP or ISO).
- : Maintain meticulous, up-to-date records of all quality checks, test results, non-conformities, and corrective actions for full product traceability during audits or recalls.
- : Prepare for and actively participate in internal and external quality and regulatory audits.
- : Help train warehouse staff on quality standards, proper handling, and hygiene procedures to foster a quality-centric culture.
