Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Officer / Inspector - Plastic Manufacturing Industry Department: Quality Assurance / Production Reports To: Quality Manager / Production Manager Location: Sharjah

Position Summary: The Quality Control Officer plays a critical role in maintaining and improving the quality of products in a plastic manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for monitoring production processes--specifically extrusion and printing--to ensure that products meet established standards of quality, safety, and customer specifications. The QC Officer will conduct inspections, tests, and analyses throughout all stages of production, from raw materials to finished goods, and will work closely with production, maintenance, and design teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Raw Material Quality Assurance:

Inspect incoming raw materials such as plastic granules, masterbatches, inks, solvents, and additives for compliance with purchase specifications.

Conduct sampling and testing (e.g., MFI, density, moisture content) as per standard procedures.

Ensure batch traceability and correct labelling/storage of materials.



2. In-Process Quality Control: Extrusion Line Monitoring:

Continuously inspect and verify output from blown film, cast film, or pipe extrusion lines.

Measure film thickness, gauge uniformity, roll width, and physical appearance.

Detect and report defects such as die lines, bubbles, gels, fish eyes, inconsistent thickness, etc. Printing Line Monitoring:

Inspect printed rolls/sheets for alignment, colour consistency, registration accuracy, and smudging.

Monitor ink adhesion and drying quality.

Validate printed samples against approved artwork or client sample. General Monitoring:

Conduct random patrol checks and line clearance inspections during shift operations.

Ensure machine parameters (temperature, pressure, line speed) are within tolerance.

Verify that operator checklists, logs, and production records are accurately maintained.

3. Finished Goods Quality Inspection:

Conduct final quality checks before packing and dispatch.

Ensure finished products meet dimensional accuracy, colourstandards, tensile/tear strength, elongation, and other specified criteria.

Reject non-conforming goods and ensure corrective actions are logged and tracked.



4. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive inspection reports, test records, non-conformance reports (NCR), and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) logs.

Prepare daily QC summaries and share with production and QA managers.

Assist in preparing monthly quality performance reviews and audits.

5. Equipment & Calibration:

Use precision instruments such as micrometres, calipers, spectrophotometers, burst testers, and weighing balances.

Ensure all QC tools are calibrated regularly and functioning correctly.

Report damaged or expired equipment to the QA Supervisor immediately.



6. Communication & Coordination:

Work closely with production supervisors and machine operators to maintain real-time control of quality.

Coordinate with maintenance teams when machine-related quality issues arise.

Collaborate with R&D/design teams to test and validate new product trials or changes.

7. Compliance & Improvement:

Follow and enforce all ISO 9001, HACCP, or BRC standards applicable to the plant.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in product quality and process efficiency.

Participate in internal audits, root cause analyses (5 Why, Fishbone), and process improvement projects. Qualifications:

Diploma or Bachelor's

Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field.

2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in quality control within the plastic manufacturing industry.

Strong knowledge of plastic raw materials, extrusion techniques, printing technologies (Flexo/Gravure), and quality standards.

Familiar with statistical quality control (SQC), SPC charts, defect analysis, and sampling techniques (AQL).

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, artwork proofs, and SOPs.

Hands-on experience with inspection tools and quality testing methods.

Working knowledge of MS Office, ERP/QMS systems is an added advantage.
