Position Overview
The
QA/QC MV Specialist - Containment & Cabling
is responsible for ensuring the
quality, compliance, and readiness of medium-voltage (MV) containment and cabling systems
within a
mission-critical project
. The role involves overseeing routing, cable pulling, dressing, termination, tagging, and testing of MV cables, ensuring all works comply with project specifications, IFC/shop drawings, and industry standards.
This is a
hands-on, site-based role
requiring a
relevant engineering degree
and
immediate availability
.
Key Responsibilities
1. MV Containment & Cabling QA/QC
Inspect and verify installation of MV containment systems including trays, conduits, ducts, and cable supports.
Ensure proper routing, segregation, alignment, and mechanical integrity.
Verify cable pulling, dressing, and bundling comply with project standards and design requirements.
2. Cable Identification & Tagging
Ensure all MV cables are correctly tagged, labeled, and identified per project specifications.
Verify continuity and proper phase segregation between feeders and distribution points.
3. Pre-Commissioning Readiness
Conduct inspection and support testing of MV systems including:
Insulation resistance (IR) tests
Continuity checks
Termination and joint verification
Confirm cables are ready for energization in coordination with electrical QA/QC and commissioning teams.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation, including:
Work Inspection Requests (WIRs)
Material Inspection Requests (MIRs)
Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
Inspection checklists and daily reports
Track punch lists and corrective actions to closure.
5. Coordination & Issue Resolution
Work closely with electrical, civil, mechanical, and cable management teams to resolve installation conflicts.
Identify non-conformances early and escalate to Electrical Coordinator or Team Lead.
Support subcontractors in adhering to QA/QC requirements.
6. Compliance & Safety
Ensure all MV installation works comply with:
IEC, BS, or local MV standards
Manufacturer guidelines for cables, joints, and terminations
Project-specific QA/QC plans, method statements, and ITPs
Reinforce safe work practices for handling MV cables, elevated installations, and energized systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Immediate availability.
Experience
3-8 years' experience in MV cable installation, containment, or QA/QC, preferably in
data centre or mission-critical projects
.
Knowledge of MV cable routing, pulling, termination, and testing procedures.
Familiarity with QA/QC workflows, WIR/MIR processes, and ITP compliance.
Skills & Competencies
Ability to read and interpret MV electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and shop drawings.
Strong attention to detail and quality-first mindset.
Effective communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
Ability to work in high-density, fast-paced technical environments.
Work Environment
Site-based in electrical rooms, risers, data halls, cable trenches, and plant areas.
Hands-on inspections, working at height, and moving through confined spaces may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED7,500.00 - AED8,500.00 per month
