Role Overview
The
Purchaser / Inventory Controller
owns the end-to-end flow of materials--from sourcing timber, boards, hardware, and finishes to maintaining optimal stock levels on the factory floor. You will negotiate with local and international suppliers, ensure on-time deliveries to meet production schedules, and keep our ERP system fully updated. Your joinery background lets you read shop drawings, forecast material usage, and spot cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Source timber, MDF, veneers, fittings, and smart-home components that meet project specs.
Obtain and evaluate quotations, negotiate price, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Raise purchase orders in ERP and track order fulfilment.
Inventory Control Maintain accurate min/max levels for raw materials, consumables, and finished goods.
Conduct weekly cycle counts and monthly full stocktakes; reconcile variances.
Implement FIFO and lot-tracking to ensure quality and traceability.
Supplier Management Vet new suppliers for quality, reliability, and cost competitiveness.
Lead annual supplier performance reviews and corrective-action plans.
Material Planning Translate production schedules and cut lists into accurate material requisitions.
Coordinate with CAD/CAM and production teams to prevent shortages or over-ordering.
Logistics & Compliance Arrange local pick-ups and international shipments, handle customs documentation, and ensure compliance with UAE import regulations and Dubai Municipality HSE standards.
Cost Optimisation Identify bulk-buy and long-term agreement opportunities to reduce material costs and lead times.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
3+ years in purchasing and inventory control
specifically within a joinery, furniture, or fit-out factory
.
Driving Licence:
Valid UAE light-vehicle licence
(mandatory)
for supplier visits and urgent pick-ups.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read joinery/shop drawings; strong ERP/Inventory software skills (SAP, Odoo, or similar).
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's in Supply-Chain Management, Business, Wood Technology, or related field.
Language:
Fluent English; Hindi/Urdu or Arabic an advantage.
Numeracy & Detail:
Proven ability to manage multiple SKUs with tight tolerances on cost, quantity, and delivery timelines.
Referred Extras
Existing supplier network for timber, boards, and hardware in the UAE/GCC.
Knowledge of customs clearance, and freight optimization.
Forklift license or warehouse-safety certification.
