The Purchasing Assistant will support the procurement / purchasing department in sourcing, ordering, and tracking the intake of materials, products, and services. This role is critical to ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and helping optimize costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Processing & Management
Create and issue purchase orders (POs) in the procurement system.
Track and follow up on POs to ensure on-time delivery.
Expedite orders when necessary and resolve delivery issues or delays.
Vendor / Supplier Management
Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Conduct vendor research, identify new suppliers, and assess vendor performance.
Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts under the guidance of senior purchasing staff.
Inventory Management
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse / operations team.
Assist in planning purchasing needs / forecasting demand.
Compare actual deliveries with POs to identify discrepancies.
Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing records, supplier contracts, invoices, and files. Indeed+1

Assist in preparing cost analyses and purchasing proposals. Indeed+1
Market Research & Cost Savings

Administrative Support

Liaise internally with departments (finance, operations, accounting) to resolve procurement-related issues.
Quality Control & Compliance

Qualifications & Skills:
Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. Indeed
