Detailed :
A Pump Room Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a building's central pumping systems. These systems are the heart of a building's utilities, managing water supply (potable and irrigation), firefighting systems, sewage ejection, and sometimes chilled water for air conditioning. The role is critical for ensuring continuous, efficient, and safe utility operations for all building occupants, requiring a high level of technical knowledge and vigilance.
Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, and control pump panels, control systems, and related equipment from a central control room.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and servicing of pumps, motors, valves, and pressure tanks.
• Monitor pressure gauges, flow meters, and control panels to ensure systems are operating within designed parameters.
• Start and stop pumps and motors as required by system demand.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults within the pump systems.
• Respond immediately to alarms and emergency situations (e.g., pump failure, pressure drop, fire pump activation).
• Maintain accurate daily logs of operations, maintenance activities, readings, and incidents.
• Ensure the pump room is clean, organized, and safe, in compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with other technical staff and contractors for major repairs or projects.
• Ensure all activities comply with DEWA and Dubai Civil Defence regulations, especially concerning fire pump systems.

Requirements & Skills:

• Proven experience as a Pump Operator, Technician, or a similar role in Facility Management or building services.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude for understanding pump and motor systems.
• Experience with PLC control panels and basic understanding of automation systems.
• Ability to read technical diagrams, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and schematics.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and HVAC principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during emergencies.
• High level of responsibility and reliability.
• Good physical condition for performing maintenance tasks.
• Relevant technical certifications or a diploma in mechanical/electrical engineering is highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of Dubai Civil Defence requirements for fire pump systems is critical.
