The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with mental health and psychiatric disorders, providing high-quality, confidential, and patient-centered care in accordance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments
Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD, and other mental health disorders
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy when appropriate
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications in compliance with DOH guidelines
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Collaborate with psychologists, counselors, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely medical records in line with clinic policies and DOH standards
Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and relapse prevention
Ensure strict adherence to ethical practices, patient confidentiality, and informed consent
Participate in continuous medical education, clinical audits, and quality improvement activities
Requirements & Qualifications
Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry (MD, DNB, MRCPsych, or equivalent)
Valid DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) License or Eligibility is mandatory
Minimum relevant clinical experience as per DOH requirements
Strong diagnostic, therapeutic, and clinical decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team
Proficiency in English (Arabic language skills are an advantage)
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience working in the UAE or GCC healthcare system
Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Experience in outpatient psychiatric care
Culturally sensitive and patient-centered approach to mental healthcare
