The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, valuation of work done, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality and compliance with legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation & Planning
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for projects.
Conduct cost analysis for maintenance and repair work.
Develop cost plans and monitor project expenditure.
Tendering & Procurement
Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities (BOQs), and contracts.
Analyze tenders and prepare tender evaluation reports.
Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to achieve best value.
Contract Administration
Manage and administer contracts in accordance with company and legal standards.
Assess, certify, and process progress claims and variations.
Handle contractual correspondence and maintain proper documentation.
Project Financial Management
Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction lifecycle.
Prepare periodic financial reports and cash flow forecasts.
Identify and mitigate financial and commercial risks.
Valuation & Reporting
Carry out interim valuations and final accounts.
Prepare project cost summaries and audit reports.
Ensure accurate measurement and pricing of works as per drawings and specifications.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors.
Participate in project meetings and provide commercial advice.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Professional membership (e.g., RICS, AIQS, CIQS, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum
4-5 years
of relevant experience
