The Role
We are seeking a Project Manager - Environmental Control & Fuel Systems to lead the complete lifecycle of ECS (Environmental Control Systems) and fuel system development across our UAV platforms. This role oversees design, integration, testing, and qualification of critical subsystems, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with aerospace standards, and timely program delivery. As a technical leader and program driver, you will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage suppliers, and ensure system readiness that meets mission-critical demands.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
Define scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets for ECS and fuel systems work packages
Drive development from concept through testing, qualification, and final integration
Lead milestone reviews and manage project risk throughout the lifecycle
Ensure synchronized delivery of hardware and documentation across engineering, supply chain, and systems integration
Technical Oversight
Oversee requirements, interface specifications, and verification plans for:
ECS: thermal management, avionics cooling, cabin pressurization
Fuel systems: tanks, pumps, valves, inerting and pressure control
Monitor subsystem performance through environmental, endurance, and qualification testing
Ensure compliance with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, AS9100, and GCAA/CS-UAS regulations
Stakeholder & Supplier Management
Manage suppliers providing ECS and fuel hardware/software components
Support procurement in vendor selection and product performance evaluations
Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), design reviews, and integration handovers with third parties
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain traceability from requirements to verification using DOORS or equivalent
Ensure complete documentation for certification, configuration control, and quality assurance
Contribute to safety cases, compliance matrices, and system design documentation in support of airworthiness
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering (REQUIRED)
Master's Degree in Thermal Systems, Aerospace Systems, or Project Management (PREFERRED)
Experience
8+ years in the aerospace or defense industry, including 5+ years managing ECS and/or fuel system programs
Direct experience with UAV or manned military aircraft systems development and qualification
Strong exposure to integration challenges in air vehicle environments
Technical Tools
Proficiency in ECS and fuel system components, architectures, and performance analysis
Familiarity with CAD platforms and simulation tools like Simulink or Modelica
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-810, DO-160, AS9100, and GCAA/CS-UAS standards
Systems engineering platforms: DOORS, Polarion
Project planning tools: MS Project, Primavera, or similar
