Amazon is seeking a Project Engineer Intern to support the planning and execution of complex projects within our existing fulfillment centers in MENA. The project scope are mainly related to automation and storage systems.

We are looking for passionate, versatile and curious Interns to work with work with the Engineering execution team to launch new facilities in UAE.

As a Project Engineering Intern, you are a passionate advocate to drive operational efficiency with strong analytics and have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. You must be an effective communicator, have a high sense of (internal) customer service and be able to work with cross-functional teams.

Support Project Managers in one or several projects by assisting them in tracking open actions, conducting ad hoc deep dives to provide data insights useful for decision-making, analysing processes to identify critical points and improvement opportunities, and anticipating for risks
Support the team in recommending and executing network improvements
Work with the team to identify process improvement or standardization opportunities
Contribute with innovative long-term/lasting solutions beneficial for the entire team

Project Management - You will have learnt key success factors to project implementation and stakeholder management in a complex and international environment. You will have used advanced project management tools and will be able to successfully provide project members with support. You will have learnt to anticipate for and mitigate risks.

Data Analytics - At the end of this internship, you will have developed skills to extract and manipulate large and complex datasets, will be given insights on simulation models, and will have learnt to master the usage of analytics for driving business decisions and change.

The role will work on launching Fulfillment Centers while focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance, sortation) and storage solutions.

A day in the life
1. Assist in the design and development of architectural projects: Under the supervision of experienced engineers, participate in the development of designs, drawings, and specifications for a variety of architectural projects for commercial buildings.
2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams: Work closely with other professionals, including architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction managers, to ensure the seamless integration of structural, mechanical, electrical, and other systems in building projects.
3. Conduct research and analysis: Research materials, technologies, and design trends to inform design decisions, as well as analyze building codes, zoning regulations, and other requirements to ensure compliance.
4. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software: Use CAD software and other industry-specific tools to create and modify architectural drawings and models, as well as to perform structural and energy analyses.
5. Attend project meetings: Participate in regular project meetings to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and gain a deeper understanding of the construction process.
6. Prepare and update project documentation: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, such as design drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standards.
7. Support the development of project proposals and presentations: Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, presentations, and marketing materials to communicate design concepts and secure new business opportunities.
8. Perform structural and energy efficiency analyses: Under the guidance of experienced engineers, perform structural and energy efficiency analyses to ensure that designs meet required performance standards.
9. Contribute to a positive work environment: Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to teamwork, continuous learning, and professional growth.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

You are currently working towards a 2+ year university degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Management, or similar discipline
You must have the right to work in the country of employment by the start date
Excellent analytical skills, preferably with advanced level in Microsoft Excel (e.g. complex formulas, pivot tables, macros)
Excellent English written and verbal communication
Problem-solving mind-set, proactive issue resolution skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
You are able to demonstrate curiosity and pro-activity, which will allow you to gain greater autonomy in the course of the internship and make the most of your time with us to fully achieve your learning and development goals
Ability to work successfully in a fast-moving environment, and to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload even when faced with conflicting priorities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In the process of obtaining a masters degree in mechanical, Electrical, or industrial engineering.
