Participate and contribute for all engineering aspects of STATCOM and SVC project execution globally. Own the project engineering activity and drive consistent functional specifications and common GE processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead a STATCOM project and facilitate on-time technical decisions to meet project deliverables and customer technical specifications.
Collaborate with the Project Manager and Engineering Leader to ensure all technical activities are scheduled, clearly defined, and assigned to project team members.
Lead technical reviews and requirements definition to ensure compliance to customer specifications.
Develop and follow-up purchase specifications and bill of material to implement a system.
Define interface points between within the engineering team (electrical, mechanical, controls, compliance) and externally (vendors, customers, contractors) and follow-up with all parties.
Responsibilities also include activities such as schedule updates, supporting sourcing initiatives, value engineering, planning & tracking project design reviews, quality control/quality assurance, and contractor management.
Responsibilities include estimating or review of design man-hours and materials, proposal documentation including BOM, writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, developing clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses.
Direct the efforts of engineers and designers, coordinating with sourcing and project controls and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives. Includes writing equipment specifications and contractor work scopes, requesting vendor quotations, evaluating quotations, interfacing with customers and project team members, and final commissioning. Will be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high-quality product to customer CTQ’s on time and on or under budget.
Develop formal test plans based on published product requirements and applicable standards.
As part of the testing and validation follows engineering processes, practices, and procedures.
Work with engineering to identify and correct product defects.
Update existing and create new test procedures and build applicable testing systems and commissioning based on requirements and applicable standards.
Verify and validate new tests, commission and test systems as well as solutions.
Ability to provide direct customer support both prior to and after commissioning to model or reproduce and troubleshoot unique configurations and applications during warranty and RAM.
Perform preventive maintenance, recommend corrective action and issue the maintenance reports to customer.
Perform rough estimates of time required to resolve issues, helping the task prioritization process.
Participate customer site commissioning and other site activities during the project lifetime.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science) from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience)
Ability and availability to travel both Domestic and International (approximately 30% of working time)
5 years of work experience in project engineering or electrical engineering with multifunctional teams in a global environment
Demonstrative knowledge of project management processes and procedures
Experience with SVC/Statcom or similar systems are seeing as benefit
Fluency in English and in Arabic language
