Job Summary

The Project Engineer - Steel Fabrication is responsible for planning, execution, and completion of steel fabrication and erection projects in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules. The role involves coordination with clients, consultants, production teams, and site personnel to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

Review approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements. Plan fabrication, erection sequences, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to schedules and milestones.

Fabrication & Site Coordination

Coordinate with fabrication shop for material cutting, welding, machining, painting, and galvanizing. Supervise site erection activities including structural steel, platforms, handrails, ladders, and miscellaneous steel works. Resolve technical issues related to drawings, fabrication, and site execution.

Quality & Safety

Ensure fabrication and erection activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant standards (AWS, AISC, EN, IS, etc.). Implement quality control procedures, inspections, and documentation. Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and promote safe work practices at site and workshop.

Material & Cost Control

Prepare material take-offs (MTO) and monitor material usage. Coordinate procurement of raw materials, consumables, and subcontracted services. Monitor project costs and support cost control measures.

Client & Consultant Coordination

Attend technical meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Prepare and submit method statements, shop drawings, inspection requests (IR), and technical documents. Handle RFIs and ensure timely approvals.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports. Maintain project records, drawings, and correspondence. Support project close-out documentation and handover.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 3-5 years of experience in steel fabrication and structural steel projects. Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, surface treatment, and erection methods. Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Tekla Structures is an advantage. Good understanding of project management, quality control, and safety standards.

Pay: AED3,500.00 - AED4,500.00 per month
