The Project Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing all technical aspects of interior fit?out projects from design/approval stage through execution to handover. This includes ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with high quality and safety standards. The role will involve coordination among design teams, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, authorities, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organise, and coordinate fit?out project activities including design, procurement, execution, and handover.
Prepare and maintain project schedules, milestones, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion.
Review and verify drawings, technical specifications, shop drawings, material submittals, and proposals for compliance with design intent and standards.
Liaise with clients, architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth communication and alignment.
Manage procurement of materials, FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment), finishes etc. Ensure timely delivery, cost control, and quality of supplied items.
Monitor and control project costs, prepare cost reports, track variations/change orders, and ensure budget compliance.
Supervise site operations: daily site monitoring, installation works (joinery, MEP, civil finishes, etc.), quality control, site safety.
Ensure compliance with local building codes, authority approvals / permits, safety regulations, and company policies.
Prepare and submit necessary documentation to authorities (permits, inspections, occupancy certificates etc.).
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; resolve technical or site issues as they arise.
Maintain project reports / dashboards: progress reports, status to senior management and to clients.
Coordinate workforce (labour schedule), subcontractors, and site logistics.
QA/QC: perform inspections, punch list management, final handover inspections.
Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld on site.
Close?out projects: ensure all deliverables are handed over, documentation is complete, warranties and manuals provided.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
