The Project Engineer - Oil & Gas is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects within the upstream, midstream, or downstream sectors. This role ensures that oil & gas projects meet technical specifications, budget targets, safety standards, and timeline expectations. The Project Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and oversees contractors, vendors, and internal resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and manage engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle (FEED to commissioning).
Prepare project scopes, estimates, schedules, and procurement specifications.
Coordinate with discipline engineers (civil, mechanical, piping, E&I, process) to ensure technical alignment.
Monitor and report on project progress, costs, risks, and deliverables.
Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
Interface with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Review and approve engineering drawings, datasheets, and method statements.
Participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews.
Conduct site visits, inspections, and ensure quality standards are met.
Support commissioning and handover of completed systems to operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, or related Engineering discipline.
8+ years of experience in project engineering within the oil & gas industry.
Knowledge of international codes and standards (API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, etc.).
Experience with project management tools (Primavera, MS Project, SAP).
Strong knowledge of upstream/downstream operations, pipelines, and facilities.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
HSE awareness and certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Experience working with EPC/EPCM contractors.
Offshore/onshore construction experience.
Familiarity with permitting, regulatory compliance, and risk management in oil & gas.
