The Project Specialist I position understands, articulates, and implements best practices related to their area of expertise. Depending on the work environment, this position may lead a work-group or be an active participant within a project management team with the need for specialized knowledge. The Project Specialist I provide guidance on how their area of capability can resolve project need and actively participates in all phases of the project life cycle. This position receives guidance and direction from the Project Manager(s), Director of Project Management, or from the assigned supervisory position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:
  • Function as the organizational ambassador for their respective knowledge area, and apply their expertise to support an organization\'s vision and strategic direction.
  • Work closely with other project team members to design and develop complete knowledge and content management solutions.
  • Oversee the development, testing, and/or implementation of the technical solutions and validate final product/service satisfies the defined requirements.
  • Review technical documentation, such as procedures, project plans, and system specifications, prior to distribution to end-users and ensure their subject area is accurately represented.
  • Assist project management team with project initiation, project planning, execution of project work, monitoring and controlling, and project closeout.
  • Develop detailed project technical reports and documents as part of project deliverable package.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:
  • Active role in personal career development through coaching and mentoring with project team leaders.
  • Remain abreast of current technological progress to ensure the Company\'s products and services remain marketable and competitive.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate Integrated Management System and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Interface with other Parker Drilling business units, existing and new customers, and vendors.
  • Ensure that personal behaviors and work practices are in line with Company safety standards.
  • Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.
  • Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.
  • Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.
  • As needed, seek advice from HSE representative.

: The Project Coordinator supports the implementation and maintenance of project management systems, including change management, cost tracking, and schedule tracking and optimization. Provides support for project execution, including selection, and procurement of equipment and related services. The individual should be proficient at the following general and technical skills:
  • Intermediate knowledge within subject matter area of expertise is required.
  • Knowledge of related drilling equipment, layouts, operations, and rig crew functions is considered a benefit.
  • Knowledge of code requirements pertaining to the design, construction, safety, and operation of both land and offshore drilling rigs including but not limited to API, ASME, ASCE, AISC, ASHRAE, and other related industry standards is considered a benefit.
  • Experience planning requirements for area of expertise is required and knowledge of project work flow of fabrication, installation and testing is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific fabrication and manufacturing design, processes, and testing (i.e., welding, machining, etc.) is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with rig and equipment testing and commissioning including systems integrated testing (SIT) and integrated acceptance testing (IAT) is considered a benefit.
  • Must have strong PC skills including Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Must have strong written and verbal technical communication skills including writing reports, emails, and presentations at various internal and external organizational levels (peers, clients, and vendors).
  • Exposure to small projects or assigned scope within larger projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An individual must have the following qualifications to perform this job successfully.
  • A bachelor\'s degree from an accredited university is required with a strong preference of business and/or technical backgrounds including engineering, sciences, or mathematics.
  • Should have three years of experience practicing subject matter area of expertise.
  • Previous work experience for a drilling contractor or other related company with direct contact to the drilling industry is considered a benefit, but not required.
