JOB SUMMARY: A unique opportunity to engage with Operation Smile as it enters its fifth decade with a deeper commitment to prioritizing safe surgery and comprehensive cleft care through health systems strengthening. Asia and MENA regions have a substantial shortage of surgeons and cleft care providers, despite a high burden of cleft and other essential surgical conditions. Operation Smile has had nearly four decades of experience in education and training and would like to play an enhanced role in creating purposeful education and training initiatives to increase workforce capacity in the Asia and MENA regions.

The Program Manager for Education and Training in Asia/MENA will help to coordinate education and training initiatives within the region and manage partnerships with other non-profit organizations, university partners, and other professional academic training institutions in the region. This role requires an individual who understands and is dedicated to education, has experience managing partnerships, and is passionate about developing health workforce capacity in the Asia/MENA region.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Management and Coordination of Education and Training Programs Become familiar with curriculum content and available programs for all 10 specialties involved in comprehensive cleft care (both surgical and non-surgical, including non-professional level trainings for community health workers and patient advocates, to health professional trainings for surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, bio-medical engineers, speech and language therapists psychosocial providers, and nutritionists). Understand and highlight education and training needs across all 10 specialties listed above within all Asia/MENA Program Countries through conducting a regional and subsequent country specific needs assessments. Identify and develop the training solutions and pathways for each country aligned with the Asia/MENA Strategy and Country Plans to reach training goals across all relevant specialties. Collate all education and training requests within the region and ensure that these requests are appropriately communicated to the Vice President of Education and the Asia/MENA Regional Directors. Ensure education and training programs are implemented in line with existing OSI education frameworks, strategy and OSI's Global Standards of Care. Coordinate all details of education and training programs for all countries in the region in collaboration with the Vice President of Education, Regional Directors and Country Managers. Coordinate and manage field-based subject matter experts and consultants in the creation of education and training programs. Plan local, regional, and international conferences in line with education initiatives

Meetings: Attend Education and Training meetings as prescribed by the Vice President of Education at OSI; Attend Regional Asia/MENA Strategy meetings as prescribed by the Regional Directors of Asia/MENA; Ensure that education and training needs in the region are conveyed and that solutions for these needs are discussed; Report on progress of education and training initiatives in the region. Supervise in-country Education Coordinators and provide support where necessary. Collaborate with OSI's Volunteer Management Department and in-country Volunteer Service Coordinators to: Recruit volunteers with education experience; Highlight regional volunteers for education and training opportunities; Establish long-term volunteer engagement opportunities; Ensure optimal utilization of volunteers in education initiatives. Ensure volunteer educators receive the necessary education and training required Regional Relationships Cultivate and foster relationships and partnerships with academic institutions across all 10 specialties, national accrediting bodies, local ministries of health, and NGOs also involved in delivering education and training to ensure that efforts are coordinated. Facilitate international, regional, and local educational exchanges through global university partnerships. Outcomes, Monitoring, and Evaluation Ensure that prescribed monitoring and evaluation processes for education and training programs are adhered to. Finance and Budgeting Support financial and budgeting processes of various initiatives and partnerships as required. Ensure financial reporting is monitored and reported on according to planned activities

REQUIREMENTS: Work experience Bachelor's degree in any field, further education such as a Master's degree would be advantageous. Experience coordinating education programs and initiatives for a minimum of 5 years. Experience managing partnerships and relationships is essential. Background in education is essential with knowledge of or experience in: Curriculum and program implementation; Education program design, preferably in resource-limited/ low- and middle-income settings; Knowledge of pre-service, in-service, and post-graduate education curricula. Experience working in low- and middle-income/ resource-limited settings. Knowledge of global health is beneficial with desire to see educational improvements facilitate global health aims and local capacity-building. Skills Fluency in English and second language is a plus. Strong project management and implementation skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Able to identify and coordinate educational needs among a wide variety of health care professionals and settings. Able to be a team player and cultivate meaningful relationships and partnerships. Able to work in in diverse cultural contexts.
