Open rank Faculty - Civil and Environmental Engineering

About the Department

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, an academic unit within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Khalifa University is dedicated to the advancement of learning and knowledge through teaching, research, service and outreach activities.

The Department invites applications for multiple open rank faculty positions related to Environment/Water/Smart transportation. The candidates are expected to have teaching experience to support Khalifa\'s commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, a strong research potential demonstrated by relevant publications and citations in high-impact journals, and possess excellent communication skills. Successful candidates are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain active research programs that lead to high-impact publications, and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. Successful candidates are also expected to be involved in thematic research within one or more of the university research priority areas.

A PhD or equivalent doctorate in the related discipline from an accredited institution is required. Preference will be given to candidates with education from and/or previous service in pre-eminent institutions of higher education. Civil Engineering background and previous relevant experience beyond the PhD are necessary. Familiarity with advanced concepts and tools of AI, GIS, data science/analytics, machine learning, and computer modeling are of particular interest. Successful candidates are expected to seek internal and external funding, engage with local and international stakeholders, and support service & outreach activities. Applicants may apply online.

Environmental/ Water Resources

• Teaching and Research in Sustainability and Modeling of Environmental Management Systems with emphasis on Air Pollution Control and Air Quality Management, Life Cycle Assessment, Strategic & Environmental Impact Assessment.
• Teaching and Research in Hydrology, Hydrological & Climate Change Modeling; Water Resources Management: Sustainable & Resilient Infrastructure; Food-Energy-Water Nexus; Coastal Engineering, Hydraulics & Fluid Mechanics.

Smart Transportation Systems

Teaching and cross-disciplinary research in Modeling & Spatial Urban Network Analysis; Intelligent Transportation Systems & Green Mobility; Policy & Planning of transport systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Assistant Professor

• Ph.D. + A minimum of 2 years of experience relevant to the position and proven research potential.

Associate Professor

• Ph.D. + A minimum of 8 years of experience relevant to the position, out of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor.

Professor

• Ph.D. + A minimum of 10 years of experience relevant to the position, out of which at least 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor
