Job Overview

TE's Application Tooling team has an established history of innovation, from the invention of the first solderless crimp hand tool in 1941 through the recent launch of automated machines to process high voltage cable terminations for hybrid electric vehicles. Our flexible solutions range from hand tools for prototyping and low production needs up to state-of-the-art equipment that can produce millions of crimps a year. The Application Tooling division is seeking an innovative Designer to join our Applicator Team in Tangier, Morocco reporting to management in the US. TE Connectivity's Technical Engineering Support Teams analyze, test and assist in research for the development of products and processes. Team members may specialize in quality control or assurance, chemical manufacturing processes, metals, electrical connectors and components, process development, materials, and/or instrumentation. They may also handle calibration, displays, network control, mold development and audiovisual work or environmental health and safety. The Technical Engineering Support Teams are responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. They plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met. They evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. At times, they may work directly with customers to understand needs, gather customer requirements, identify resources and assess project risks. They create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication, for non-technical and technical users.

Tasks and Responsibilities

. Gain familiarity with all the applicator product lines that the team supports . Maintain and optimize existing products, implement product extensions and develop new solutions to satisfy requirements provided by sales, customers, operations teams, manufacturing engineers or other colleagues . Create 3D models, drawings, design layouts and technical documentation for the tooling designed. . Produce and revise engineering documentation in support of product development and sustaining, coordinating changes across multiple departments . Assist other Product Engineers and/or lead projects with varying degrees of complexity within Product Engineering in support of strategic goals, new product introductions, and customer requests . Up to 8 weeks of international travel will be initially required for training purposes. Typical travel up to 10%

What your background should look like:

. Bachelor or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited University . 2+ years of experience in mechanical design . 3D modeling with CAD software (Creo preferred and experience with design automation programs a plus) . Familiarity with stamping/forming simulations using other software packages to be considered. . ISO GPS / ASME GD&T, DOE, FEA, Microsoft Office applications . Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, design for manufacturability and VA/VE methodology . Willingness to work hands on to set up, qualify, and troubleshoot applicators . English proficiency required
