Role Purpose
  • To provide technical leadership with applicable biological and agronomic data to shape product offers and set direction for key development projects, across AMEA that will support Portfolio Leadership Teams (PLTs) in data driven decision making.
  • Support new product introductions (NPIs) with sound Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) data to ensure successful registrations.
  • Support Technical Marketing Development (TMD) and Commercial teams (Marketing and Sales) with conclusive biology data that enables products to be technically positioned to meet customer needs.
  • Implement leading practices across AMEA for biology experiments leveraging cross functional collaboration with a focus on integrated digital technologies for Product Biology to optimise development programmes.
  • Coach and support countries to enable best experimental practice to achieve expected trial performance indicators.
  • Prioritise product biology development resources to maximise the value of the Product Line portfolio for AMEA
Accountabilities Ensure the technical positioning of development products complement the existing and future Crop Protection portfolio and this is clearly communicated.
  • For new active ingredients (Stage 1 & 2) and global formulations: provide technical expertise to support Global Technical Managers in designing field biology programmes; generating technical profiles, and assessing fit in AMEA countries
  • For Stage 3 active ingredients, regional formulations and key regional PLCM projects: lead the design, implementation and analysis of AMEA field biology programmes to generate GAP and customized technical profiles for AMEA countries
  • Translate field biology data into credible and compelling messages and lead the review of field biology results for key AMEA projects (including appropriate cross-country / region meetings)
  • Propose new product concepts and solutions to add value to the relevant AMEA Product Line and the broader Crop Protection portfolio. eg through the Portfolio Development Cycle (PDC)
  • Ensure sound protocol development, evaluation, analysis and review of results is done to meet planned timelines for regional projects
  • Advance the implementation of the CPD digital programme. Enable digital data capture (DDC) technology, Ezy Capture evaluations, predictive modelling and leverage data science to support the design, analysis and visualisation of trial experiments.
  • Support the design and review of protocols with country CPD teams including any technical training on SOPs in sufficiency and uniformity of target pressure, application, crop maintenance, non-target management, crop and target assessment, and sampling technique.
  • As a core member of a relevant AMEA Portfolio Leadership Team (PLT) provide clear technical data that supports sound decision making for the PLT.
  • Participate and contribute as an active member of the AMEA Product Biology team, Global Technical teams and relevant AMEA Portfolio Leadership Teams (PLTs) to enable decisions that are fit for purpose.
  • Work within agreed budgets and business cases to develop products that deliver to the project milestones and commercial expectations.
  • With support from Technical Excellence build capability in basic trial process in country CPD teams. (eg. protocol development, trial design, evaluations, analysis and reviews)
  • Ensure that Technical Marketing Development (TMD) have the required data to enable translation into clear Reasons to Believe demonstrations.
  • Map the competitor landscape to enable more informed technical decisions and input into AMEA Leadership Teams for internal meetings, external conferences, and third-party engagements.
  • Represent Syngenta at relevant external technical forums. eg Resistance Action Committees (RACs)
  • Ensure that all operations under direct control comply with Syngenta Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and guidelines as well as any other relevant Syngenta or statutory policies
Transition accountabilities
  • Understand the commercial priorities for AMEA and key countries.
  • Successfully integrate and engage with the relevant AMEA PLT
  • Build a network of internal and external stakeholders and teams to gain respect and trust as a partner.
  • Review projects, risks, and mitigation plans.

Qualifications
Critical knowledge
  • Masters or PhD degree in agriculture / biological science.
Critical experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in crop protection industry.
  • At least 5 years working in a technical role related to the relevant Product Line
  • Deep understanding of chemical and non-chemical crop protection.
  • Broad background in agriculture, crop agronomy and sustainable crop production techniques.
