The Procurement Officer is responsible for executing and managing the procurement strategy, processes, and policies in alignment with the organizational and group strategy. The role will ensure efficient procurement operations, effective supplier management, compliance with relevant laws, and alignment with inventory and logistics planning--particularly in a healthcare setting.
Implement procurement strategies, policies, procedures, and controls aligned with group objectives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review and update the annual procurement plan.
Conduct regular demand and logistics planning in coordination with stock/inventory management.
Manage end-to-end procurement activities including purchase orders, vendor contracts, payment processing, variation orders, and customs clearance.
Negotiate contract terms to achieve cost savings, scope optimization, risk mitigation, and value enhancement.
Oversee vendor registration and implement supplier classification frameworks.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships; monitor and report on supplier performance.
Supervise storeroom/inventory activities including stock control, purchasing, and record maintenance.
Conduct periodic compliance reviews and resolve procurement-related audit findings.
Participate in benchmarking initiatives to identify and apply best procurement practices.
Managerial Responsibilities:
Stay informed on the strategic planning processes relevant to procurement and logistics.
Understand and support the implementation of KPI frameworks.
Contribute to achieving departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
Organizational Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, guidelines, and procurement laws.
Participate in internal and external audits of procurement policies and procedures.
Assist in the preparation of periodic procurement and performance reports.
Identify and escalate quality or compliance issues in reporting.
Support change management activities within the procurement function.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in procurement, contracting, inventory, and logistics management.
At least 4 years of experience within the healthcare industry is required.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and contract management skills
Excellent planning, coordination, and analytical abilities
Familiarity with procurement compliance frameworks and healthcare supply chain requirements
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software tools
High attention to detail and integrity in documentation and reporting
Work Environment:
Office-based role with regular interaction with suppliers, finance, stores, and healthcare operations teams.
May require occasional visits to suppliers or storage facilities.
