is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects. The role ensures timely delivery of high-quality materials within the approved budget while maintaining compliance with company policies and project specifications.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:1. Material & Equipment Procurement
Receive material requisitions from MEP engineers and verify technical specifications.
Float inquiries to approved vendors and suppliers for quotation.
Evaluate technical and commercial aspects of quotations and prepare comparative statements.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Issue Purchase Orders (POs) after necessary approvals.
Ensure all purchased materials comply with project specifications and consultant requirements.
2. Vendor & Supplier Coordination
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Monitor supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, and service.
Update the approved vendor list in coordination with the procurement manager.
Visit supplier facilities when required to assess capabilities and quality control.
3. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain complete documentation for all purchase transactions in ERP or manual records.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Coordinate with accounts for supplier payments and invoice verification.
Support internal and external audits related to procurement.
4. Project Coordination
Coordinate closely with project engineers, storekeepers, and site teams to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
Track deliveries and ensure materials reach the site on time to avoid project delays.
Assist in identifying alternate materials or suppliers in case of shortages or delays.
5. Cost Control & Reporting
Monitor material costs and prepare procurement status reports for management.
Assist in achieving cost savings through effective negotiation and bulk purchasing.
Track material price trends and market availability for budgeting purposes.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience:
Minimum
3-5 years
experience in MEP or construction procurement within the UAE or GCC.
Technical Knowledge:
MEP materials, equipment, and specifications.
Procurement procedures and vendor management.
ERP or procurement software (FACTS / Oracle / SAP preferred).
Skills:
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Analytical and detail-oriented.
Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
