Job Purpose:

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for construction and fit-out projects. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality items in compliance with project specifications and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Review project specifications, BOQs, and drawings to determine procurement needs. Source, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors based on quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities. Prepare and float RFQs (Request for Quotations), analyze quotations, and prepare comparison sheets. Negotiate with vendors to ensure best value, terms, and delivery schedules. Issue purchase orders and subcontracts in coordination with the procurement and project teams. Track and monitor order status, ensure on-time deliveries, and resolve any supply chain issues. Coordinate with engineering, site, and warehouse teams to ensure materials comply with specifications and standards. Maintain up-to-date records of suppliers, pricing, and procurement logs. Assist in managing procurement budgets and cost control strategies. Ensure compliance with company policies and local procurement regulations. Identify and mitigate risks related to delays, quality issues, and supplier reliability.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical) or related field. 5 years of experience in procurement within the construction or fit-out industry. Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and technical specifications. Knowledge of local and international suppliers and markets. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and procurement software (e.g., Oracle, SAP). Attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred:

Experience in UAE-based projects and local authority material approval processes. Familiarity with fast-track procurement strategies in high-end fit-out or renovation projects. Certification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement is a plus.
