Job Description

A Process Draftsman (or Process CAD Technician) is responsible for creating and maintaining technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams related to industrial processes, manufacturing systems, or engineering projects. They work closely with engineers and designers to develop detailed plans for equipment layouts, piping systems, instrumentation, and workflow processes.
Key Responsibilities:
A Process Draftsman (or Process CAD Technician) is responsible for creating and maintaining technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams related to industrial processes, manufacturing systems, or engineering projects. They work closely with engineers and designers to develop detailed plans for equipment layouts, piping systems, instrumentation, and workflow processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Draft 2D/3D layouts of industrial plants, machinery, and piping systems using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or specialized tools like SmartPlant).
- Review and modify technical drawings based on engineering specifications.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASME).
- Collaborate with engineers to optimize process designs.
- Maintain documentation and update drawings as per project revisions.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering Technology.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar).
- Knowledge of process engineering principles and industrial standards.
- Attention to detail and ability to interpret technical specifications.
- Experience in industries like oil & gas, chemical plants, or manufacturing is a plus.
- Typically office-based, but may involve site visits.
- Common in engineering firms, manufacturing plants, or construction companies.
