Overview

The Printing Room Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining printing, photocopying, and finishing equipment in a school setting. The role involves preparing and producing printed materials such as worksheets, handouts, newsletters, exams, and other documents for staff and faculty, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain photocopiers, printers, scanners, and related finishing equipment (e.g., binders, laminators).
Print and prepare teaching and administrative materials according to staff requests.
Prioritize and schedule print jobs based on urgency and volume.
Monitor print quality and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Maintain adequate levels of printing supplies (paper, toner, etc.) and place orders as needed.
Ensure all printing is completed to a high standard and within required timeframes.
Safeguard confidential materials, such as exams and student records, ensuring privacy and security.
Assist staff with the use of printing and copying equipment when necessary.
Keep the print room organized, clean, and compliant with school health and safety guidelines.
Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance or external service providers as needed.

Skills Description

Basic computer literacy (email, PDF editing, Word/Excel).
