JOB TITLE: Principal Engineer - Planning, Risk

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the 2GW Project Control Manager
  • Responsible for development of Risk Management Plans and protocols for the 2GW Portfolio
  • Set-up and lead risk workshops and meetings.
  • Ensure all risks and opportunities requiring treatment (action) or monitoring are added to the Project Risk & Opportunity (R&O) Register
  • Ensure that Project R&O have effective mitigation plans. Facilitate carrying out any further investigation by the project team to determine additional risk mitigation that may reduce the risks to an acceptable level.
  • Work with Risk Owners, Project personnel responsible for implementation of area specific risk (i.e., HSE, Project Management, Technical and Cost/Schedule) related activities to ensure work is conducted in accordance with the Risk Management Plan
  • Ensure risks and their associated mitigations are tracked and closed by due dates via proactive communication with relevant key risk management personnel
  • Review current controls to validate their effectiveness and work with Quality Assurance (QA) where necessary to report effectiveness
  • Facilitate the monthly monitoring of the risk register with Project team & Program Director
  • Escalate risk related issues as required to Project Management Team.
  • Ensure during any contractual negotiation that all related risks are either mitigated, closed or transferred.
  • Liaise with concerned project team on any requirements of System Engineering
  • Responsible for audits of policy and compliance to risk management standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors
  • Provide input for Project Planners & Cost engineers to perform Schedule and Cost Risk Analysis
  • Assist Program Director and/or Project Controls Manager in interpreting results of risk analysis & recommend mitigations
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the professional practices in risk management & assessment (e.g., ISO31000, ISO 21500, Prince2, IPMA, PMI, IRM, RMP, ACCE)

Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching/training skills, and computer skills (Excel, Power BI and statistics data handling)

Thorough understanding of project management processes especially Planning & Cost controls

Multi-tasking, flexible & agile with ability to support Program Director / Program Control Manager to resolve issues raised in addition to current assignments

Minimum Requirement

Engineering Bachelor's degree

A minimum of 15 years' experience in Energy industry mega projects

A minimum of 8-10 years' experience in managing project risk management through full lifecycle out of which minimum 1 project experience related to offshore

Experience in any Project Risk Management Systems & Risk Management Assessment Tools is preferable - Acumen Risk, Oracle Schedule Risk Analysis, @Risk, any Enterprise Risk Management software
