Job Summary

Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers to carrying out FEED, Detail Engineering and Proposals as per Contract / ITT documents within the specified schedule and budget and provide necessary technical information for procurement in compliance with tender specifications/data sheets.

Requirement

  • BS, BE, B Tech Degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Ocean Engineering or Naval Architect
  • Preferred MS or ME or M Tech Degree
  • 10 and above years of experience in pipeline detail engineering with minimum 6 years of offshore pipeline detail design experience preferable from Oil and Gas Engineering Consultancies or EPC Contractor.
  • Detailed knowledge of all design techniques and analysis methods.
  • Detailed knowledge of the theory, content and application of statutory codes and guidelines as applicable for Offshore Pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Line pipe Materials, Valves and Exotic materials.
  • Knowledge in pipeline global buckling, lateral buckling mitigations and ABAQUS FE Software is desirable.
  • Knowledgeable in project execution.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and updating of global procedures / standards, and recruitments
  • Assist in the maintenance of departmental technical guidelines and standard calculation notes.
  • Assist / guide in the development of in-house software tools and it's maintenance.
  • Train the engineers and designers to meet the required technical expertise.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, establish performance criteria, and identify employee strengths and weaknesses recommend training and development requirements.
  • Review the ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents provided in the proposals, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare various estimates like Bill of quantities, Material cost, Man-hours, Software cost, Vendor assistance, Vendor visits and any other estimates as needed for the bid.
  • Review contract requirements and prepare pipeline execution plan including scope, Technical Document Register (TDR) and scope split matrix, schedule and all manpower resources - agree allocations with the Discipline Manager. Oversee pipeline engineering progress and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Be fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues
  • Lead the assigned engineers and drafting personnel to complete the scope as per planned schedule, within budget, in accordance with Client specifications / standards, Company procedures and to a high professional standard - keep the Discipline Manager appraised of all activities and concerns, both technical, budgetary and manpower related.
  • Ensure that input deliverables and responsible department for design engineering and their schedules are clearly indentified.
  • Ensure interfaces, deliverables and their schedules are clearly identified.
  • Coordinate with procurement, fabrication and offshore installation team and maintain agreed material order release dates, ensure standards are followed.
  • Monitor scope change, raises change notifications to the project.
  • Prepare working forecasts identifying change management plans, corrective action and real time schedule.
  • Interface with Client and other agencies on their review and approval.
  • Identifies and provides training to the staff in specific techniques and proprietary software required for the project.
  • Maintain responsibility for the pipeline engineering integrity of the design group.
  • Maintain responsibility for progress and productivity. Identify any corrective action. Raise changes orders for scope change.
  • Review all project schedules. Review the fabrication schedule in relation to construction sequence and engineering scope.
  • Plan discipline Level 4 detail deliverable schedule/ register compliant with the overall execution plan.
  • Supervise and guide all engineers and designers. Assign tasks and responsibilities to the project pipeline team.
  • Provide guidance on preparing pipeline field layout, alignment sheets and general arrangement drawings.
  • Review and prepare engineering design basis for assigned projects.
  • Review / prepare design analysis, calculations and procedures for discipline deliverables.
  • Ensure that single discipline checking (SDC) procedure and inter-discipline checking (IDC) procedures are carried-out.
  • Lead the discipline team during project audits/ TQA.
  • Review all detailed drawings ensuring technical correctness, professional presentation and that fabrication and installation requirements are satisfied.
  • Review multidiscipline deliverables, vendor data. Provide comments to ensure all interfaces are details are correct.
  • Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, conduct internal staff meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance to schedule, allotted man hours and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues. Update TDR progress reports through the use of PETROCEPT software.
  • Review comments from Clients and other agencies on documents and drawings produced by the department, resolve and give guidance on their updation and incorporation.
  • Review/prepare CRS for client review comments.
  • Identify the Lesson Learned in all the projects and present in the Discipline group meeting - logged to Lessons Learned Management system.
  • Review RFQ, PR and perform TBE on materials.
  • Review subcontractor scope of work and MTO for pipeline coatings.
  • Provide technical support to marine and construction queries.
  • Review and prepare inputs required for pre-engineering survey.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, constructability review and model review meetings with client and representatives of other engineering disciplines for assigned projects.
  • Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues, strictly ensure compliance with Company's ISO Quality procedures. Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests, facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
  • Perform any other activities as and when directed by direct Supervisor and Discipline Manager.
