Position Overview
Principal Design Engineer roles in Dubai infrastructure projects require senior technical leadership, strong authority coordination, and the ability to deliver complex dry utilities designs from concept through IFC. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare dry utilities master plans from concept to detailed master plan stage, including HV and LV corridor space proofing, ROW definition, and coordination with wet utilities, ICT, telecom, roads, transportation, landscape, and building design teams
  • Develop master plan reports covering demand load calculations, equipment sizing, selective protection coordination, and tie-in point requirements from concept through IFC stage
  • Design electrical and ELV systems for STPs, RO plants, and stormwater, sewage, and irrigation pumping stations, including lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection, telecommunications, security, and fire detection and alarm systems
  • Prepare design reports, technical specifications, tender documents, and supporting documentation, and secure approvals through coordination with clients, authorities, and subconsultants
  • Review design documents prepared by other consultants and issue formal design review reports with comments and recommendations
  • Prepare technical proposals, project estimates, technical bid evaluations, and evaluation reports
  • Perform value engineering studies on technical options and prepare value engineering reports with clear recommendations
  • Respond to contractor RFIs and review and approve key technical submittals related to electrical works and dry utilities
  • Use Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM tools, and Revit to review clash analyses and resolve coordination issues within 3D models
  • Independently develop and supervise HV, MV, and LV systems and networks for large infrastructure projects, including defining scope, preparing budgets and schedules, planning work, and reporting progress
  • Liaise with electricity authorities such as DEWA, SEWA, ADDC, SEC, FEWA, MEDC, and Civil Defense to obtain power supply master plan approvals, load NOCs, LV and MV design approvals, and distribution substation approvals
  • Act as project or discipline lead engineer on assigned projects and provide technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters, and junior to mid-level engineers
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in electrical design for large infrastructure projects
  • Strong hands-on experience in HV, MV, and LV electrical design to local and international standards
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA, IEC, and GCC authority standards
  • Strong infrastructure engineering background with experience in primary substations 132-11 kV, HV corridors, distribution and pocket substations, feeder pillars, MV systems up to 33 kV, and LV networks
  • Proven ability to analyze requirements for both greenfield and brownfield infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and guide teams of junior engineers
