About the role Mott MacDonald offers an opportunity to lead the coastal function in our land development team which is made up of wider disciplines such as mobility, utilities, sustainability, environment and waste. Our offer ranges from technical due diligence, through master planning and infrastructure design to site supervision. We deliver across our global teams but our focus markets are the UAE and KSA. Typical projects include major masterplanning and infrastructure design for coastal structures, breakwaters, harbors and marinas, shoreline protection and stabilization, beaches, and numerical modelling studies. Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
Lead all coastal elements on projects
Lead engagement with client marine teams
Support account leaders and territory sector leaders to win and deliver work
Arrange and secure resources from coastal teams around the world
Independently perform engineering analysis and design with a focus on coastal and maritime infrastructure of recreational, commercial, and industrial facilities
Develop calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Assist in the preparation of proposals, budget estimates and scopes of work
Through connected thinking, engage and interface with the relevant local or oversea staff and promote a collaborative environment
Candidate Specification
Bachelors degree in a relevant subject (Master degree in relevant subjects such as Marine/Coastal/Civil Engineering would be desirable)
Chartership with relevant body or working toward an equivalent professional qualification
Experience of working in the Middle East
Experience with design, management and coordination of marine and coastal projects. This includes - but not limited to - breakwaters, marinas, coastal structures, beaches, processes and shoreline stabilization studies, ramps, piles structures, intakes and outfalls, quay walls.
Experience with met-ocean studies including statistical analysis of wind, waves and water levels.
Exposure to numerical modelling for marine application. This should include the following MIKE21 software modules (or equivalent): HD, TR, SW, BW. Experience with MIKE3 and/or Delft 3D, and LITPACK modules or similar will be considered a plus;
Knowledgeable of codes and standards applicable to his own area of expertise and able to undertake independent research when required
Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally with connected thinking
Excellent report-writing ability: the candidate will be required to be responsible for the production of technical reports as well as technical proposal in his/her area of expertise;
Sound commercial abilities: the candidate will be required to support with estimate fees for undertaking marine design works and have ability to work within budget and programme;
Team player: it is expected that the candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor/lead more junior staff;
Willingness to travel within the region to interface with clients and /or other teams as required
