Job Responsibilities
A) Teaching & Learning
Plan and deliver well-structured, creative, and differentiated lessons for primary-aged students.
Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to motivate and challenge students.
Assess, record, and report on students' progress regularly and accurately.
Differentiate instruction to support students with varying needs, including EAL and SEND learners.
Use data to inform teaching practices and provide targeted support.
Foster a positive classroom climate of respect, encouragement, and high expectations.
Assess students' learning on a lesson-by-lesson basis, using assessment data to set targets and track progress
Uphold the school's teaching and learning expectations as guided by the School's Policy
B) Pastoral Care
Support the social, emotional, and moral development of all students.
Establish positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
Encourage student independence, resilience, and responsibility.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student learning and well-being.
Engage actively with all aspects of school life and contribute to a positive and inclusive school ethos.
C) Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Participate actively in staff meetings, CPD, school events, and co-curricular programmes.
Collaborate with year group and subject teams to ensure curriculum consistency.
Maintain up-to-date planning, reporting, and assessment records.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.
D) Community Contribution
Actively support the vision and ethos of Durham School by promoting teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism.
Develop strong relationships with parents and carers to encourage engagement in school life and learning.
Support and contribute to wider school activities and events as required.
Stay updated with school communications and calendars, and meet deadlines as required by the SLT or Principal.
Adhere to the School's policies and dress code, and follow any reasonable instructions issued by school leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education or curriculum-related subject.
Postgraduate Certificate in Education or Postgraduate Diploma in Education with QTS where applicable.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience teaching in the British Curriculum in a similar role.
