The PPF Installer is responsible for applying high-quality paint protection films to vehicles or other surfaces to safeguard them against environmental damage. This includes handling and applying film to various parts of vehicles (e.g., hoods, bumpers, mirrors) with precision and attention to detail to ensure optimal coverage, durability, and a flawless finish.
Key Responsibilities:
Film Application: Install paint protection film (PPF) on vehicles, including car exteriors, mirrors, bumpers, and other areas that require protection. Ensure accurate cutting, shaping, and positioning of the film for a perfect fit.
Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare vehicle surfaces by thoroughly washing and sometimes polishing the areas to be protected to ensure proper adhesion of the PPF.
Precision Work: Cut the paint protection film to fit each area of the vehicle accurately, using specialized tools and techniques to ensure seamless application.
Adherence to Quality Standards: Apply the film without bubbles, wrinkles, or defects, ensuring a flawless finish. Inspect the work for quality and ensure it meets company standards.
Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to understand their needs, explain the benefits of PPF, and provide advice on the best coverage options for their vehicle.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment used for installation, such as heat guns, squeegees, knives, and film cutters, ensuring they are clean, in good condition, and ready for use.
Post-Installation Care: Advise customers on proper care and maintenance of the PPF after installation, such as avoiding harsh chemicals and washing techniques that might damage the film.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other installers and the shop manager to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
Skills & Qualifications:
Attention to Detail: The ability to work meticulously and accurately with precise measurements and alignment, ensuring a perfect installation.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of the tools and techniques used for cutting, shaping, and applying paint protection films, as well as an understanding of how to work with different types of surfaces.
Physical Dexterity: Ability to handle small, delicate tools and work in confined spaces (such as vehicle interiors or tight exterior spots).
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during installation, such as air bubbles, wrinkles, or film tears.
Customer Service Skills: Ability to interact with customers professionally and offer solutions based on their needs.
Organizational Skills: Ability to keep work areas clean and organized and manage installation materials efficiently.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in automotive detailing, vinyl wrapping, or paint protection film installation is preferred but not required.
